Pratyay Sengupta

Mr. Pratyay Sengupta was a Ph.D. student at the Department of Biotechnology, Indian Institute of Technology Madras. He is a recipient of the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship. He graduated from the National Institute of Technology Durgapur in 2020 and subsequently joined Dr. Karthik Raman’s Lab at IIT Madras. His research primarily focused on the understanding of the microbial interactions in a community using integrative network-based and constraint-based approaches. Pratyay defended his PhD thesis titled “Decoding Microbial Adaptation and Interactions in Built Environments” in December 2025. Dr. Pratyay Sengupta was also a post-doc in the lab after his thesis submission.
